Connecticut Immunization Coalition
Description
The Connecticut Immunization Coalition (formerly the Connecticut Influenza and Pneumococcal Coalition) meets on a monthly basis and is dedicated to the promotion of Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended adult vaccinations for the protection from the illness or complications from, invasive pneumococcal disease, shingles (herpes zoster), pertussis (whooping cough) among other vaccine preventable diseases. The Coalition also has a primary focus on influenza vaccination throughout the community. Membership is open to any person or agency interested in the scope of adult and/or influenza vaccinations. Through a diverse membership, the Coalition is able to respond to the ever-changing issues related to vaccinations.
Mission
As a Coalition, we aim to advocate and educate health professionals, the public and CT legislators within the community we serve. Our mission is to empower, promote awareness and assist in removing barriers in order to encourage the public to receive vaccinations in addition to removing access barriers among the adult population.
