Hepatitis B Foundation
Description
The Hepatitis B Foundation (HBF) is the only national non-profit organization solely dedicated to the global problem of hepatitis B. Our commitment includes funding focused research, promoting disease awareness, supporting immunization and treatment initiatives, and serving as the primary source of information for patients and their families, the medical and scientific community, and the general public.
Mission
The HBF is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for hepatitis B and improving the lives of those affected worldwide through research, education and patient advocacy.
Goals
The HBF has robust biomedical, public health, outreach, education and advocacy programs to address hepatitis B and liver cancer. Our programs are working to ensure that hepatitis B is prioritized as an urgent unmet health need in the U.S. and globally. Our research arm, the Baruch S. Blumberg Research Institute (BSBI) is working to find a cure for hepatitis B, as well as early detection methods for cirrhosis and liver cancer. A major focus of our public health program is reducing hepatitis B-related health disparities and reducing hepatitis B-related stigma and discrimination. HBF also co-leads the Hep B United coalition, which has partners in 26 cities across the U.S. to improve awareness, screening, linkage to care and vaccination rates among high-risk communities.
