Miami-Dade Immunization Coalition

Description

Relaunched in 2019, with the participation of FIDEC, the University of Miami, the Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade, and representatives from governmental and private organizations, to identify barriers, and develop strategies to increase vaccination rates in the community. Topics discussed at the Coalition meetings include: the impact of vaccination due to the pandemic, the increase in the request for vaccination exceptions for religious reasons and the distrust and misinformation of COVID 19 vaccines in the general population.

Mission

Increase immunization through education, promotion and sharing best practices to develop, implement and monitor immunization strategies aimed at providing protection against vaccine preventable diseases.

Goals

Educate the community and health care professionals about safety and effectiveness of recommended vaccines, monitoring changes in vaccination rates in the community, Identify and resolve obstacles for optimal immunization practices, share ideas, successes, failures and learnings among coalition members to raise the levels of immunization rates in Miami Dade County.
