Sessions are flexible, ranging from short virtual introductions to multi-session, skill-building workshops, and can be tailored for a range of audiences, including nurses, pharmacists, and community health workers. Grandparents for Vaccines seeks volunteers to join its state leaders group to support communication activities

Grandparents for Vaccines (GFV) is a volunteer-run organization, formed in partnership with Voices for VaccinesNurses for America, and other organizations. It was formed to counter anti-vaccine sentiment by using the voices of grandparents to protect grandchildren. The organization aims to mobilize the voices of the 67 million American grandparents in the United States to make sure grandchildren do not suffer the deadly illnesses they experienced as children.

Right now, GFV is seeking to expand its state leader group of Grandparents for Vaccines. State leaders aid GFV in its communication goals by:

  • Appearing on local TV stations to tell the GFV story and call on the nation to vaccinate grandchildren
  • Helping to organize and speak at local events such as PTA meetings, web meetings, and faith meetings
  • Helping with other GFV communication activities

State leaders receive support, resources, and training, and can choose a working group to be involved with. The expectation is that everyone gets involved with at least one working group, and no more than two. Important group meetings occur twice a month and feature updates on activities the groups are working on, as well as skill-building sessions, and other training.

Volunteers are already set up to help in 15 states, but more volunteers are needed!

To learn more, contact GFV at grandparentsforvaccines@gmail.com with “state leader” in the subject line.

CDC updates "Interim Clinical Considerations for Use of COVID-19 Vaccines in the United States" web page for the 2025–26 season

On November 4, CDC updated its Interim Clinical Considerations for Use of COVID-19 Vaccines in the United States web page for the 2025–26 season. The clinical considerations provide guidance to healthcare professionals and public health officials on use of COVID-19 vaccines.

The adult and child and adolescent schedules were updated to reflect the changes on October 7.

CDC summarizes recent changes to the COVID-19 vaccination guidance to reflect:

  • COVID-19 vaccination recommendations have been updated to reflect individual-based decision-making (shared clinical decision-making) for people age 6 months and older.
  • The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is no longer authorized for children age 6 months through 4 years. The only FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine available for this age group is Spikevax (Moderna).

Communication with the public is more important than ever, as the public are facing greater access barriers and more confusion about vaccines in general.

Look here for respiratory season toolkits supporting outreach, education, and prevention

As respiratory virus season gets into full swing, healthcare professionals and public health communicators can tap an expanding library of free respiratory season toolkits that support outreach, education, and prevention. We have the opportunity now to improve upon the 2024–25 season performance. Last season, we saw declines in influenza vaccination, very low COVID-19 vaccination, and many missed opportunities for RSV immunization, especially among infants born during spring and summer who need immunization at the beginning of the RSV immunization season.

The following toolkits and web pages from trustworthy sources help make it easier to encourage your communities and reinforce the value of immunization this season:

  • American Academy of PediatricsRSV Campaign Toolkit provides materials to communicate about RSV prevention. It includes downloadable resources, social media graphics, educational parent handouts, and suggested messages.
  • American College of Obstetricians and GynecologistsMaternal Immunization Social Media Toolkit provides messaging to promote COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and Tdap vaccines during pregnancy. Messages for either patient or clinician audiences are offered.

  • CDCSocial Media: For Parents (RSV) toolkit offers social media graphics and message templates to raise awareness about RSV disease and how to protect children. It includes downloadable carousel images, along with sample messages encouraging parents to learn about immunization and prevention.
  • Common Health Coalition offers three toolkits, including:
    • Payers toolkit: resources for health plans and insurers to guide vaccine coverage decisions, communications, and member engagement
    • Providers toolkit: practical tools and materials to help healthcare providers integrate updated vaccine guidance and strengthen patient communication
    • States toolkit: guidance for state health leaders and agencies to coordinate vaccine distribution, outreach, and system-wide planning
  • Immunize.org: Vaccines A–Z: InfluenzaVaccines A–Z: Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)Vaccines A–Z: COVID-19. These pages include all resources from Immunize.org on each topic.
  • NFID.orgRSV Social Media Graphics web page offers social media graphics to raise awareness about RSV. The graphics come with suggested messages and can be paired with other NFID resources.
  • NFID.orgFrom Wild to Mild: The Power of Flu Vaccination campaign promotes annual influenza vaccination to reduce the severity of influenza. It offers downloadable, co-brandable graphics and animations in English and Spanish.
  • Vaccinate Your Family#RootedInProtection 2025 Respiratory Campaign toolkit includes easy-to-share content to help answer questions families ask this season. Additionally, please help VEC improve the resource by sending suggestions for additions to the dictionary. To do so, use the form on the Parents PACK web page.
